Cuckoo flower (Cardamine pratensis) native, is a very pretty native herbaceous perennial plant with delicate pink to white flowers.  It is known by many other names such as milkmaids, bread and milk and  lady’s smock to mention but a few but the Cuckoo name is thought to have originated as its flowers signify the arrival of the Cuckoo.  Foliage starts in spring with flowers blooming in late spring to early summer.  It has It is a good plant for attracting wildlife to any garden and is used widely in wild meadow and wetland planting and as underplanting with other shade loving plants. It has become a very popular choice with landscapers and designers who like it for its natural appearance and simple beauty.
