Colorado Water Lily (Nymphaea ‘Colorado’)
Colorado water lily (Nymphaea ‘Colorado’) is a pretty medium sized, variable water lily changing in colour through peach to red. The blooms are a beautiful shape and colour and stand 7.5-10 cm above the water. The soft pink outer petals shade to light peach on the innermost petals and there is a yellow centre to the flower. Stellate (star-like) in shape, the flowers measure (7.5-10 cm) across with twenty-six to twenty-eight petals and also have a very pleasant fragrance. Suitable for growing in medium size ponds it is very versatile and provides a great habitat for aquatic wildlife.
- A very prolific bloomer that will flower late into the season.
- The nearly round leaves with their open sinus measure 5-7 in (12.5-18 cm) across. The foliage is medium green in colour while the newer leaves are a more olive green.
- Spread 36-60in (90-150cm).
- Recommended for a medium size pond.
- Planting depth above soil level 24in (60cm).
- Position in full sun in still water.
- We would recommend a planting basket of at least 22cm across.
- Water lilies are heavy feeders and benefit from a slow release fertilizer specially prepared for aquatic plants such as Growth Balls which can simply be pushed into the soil.
