Anagallis Tenella Bog Pimpernel

Anagallis Tenella Bog Pimpernel is a British native perennial  is a  very shallow water marginal pond plant but is also happy in damp and boggy habitats It does not like its foliage under the water. This aromatic plant has pale pink flowers from early June into September and creates almost a matting of beautiful flowers which give very dramatic effect when planted in groups. It is useful for ground cover or to hide the edge of a pond. It can be grown in your shallow  pond margins as well as damp wetland areas or bog areas. It can also be grown in tubs barrels and containers providing its leave are kept out of the water and it will spill over the sides to provide good coverage. A great plant for pollinators due to the  matting of the plant it is easy for visiting insects to access

  • Native. Happy growing in wet soil or as a  very shallow water plant with the foliage out of the water.
  • Height 5cm (2in),
  • Planting depth 1cm to 2cm of water only over the roots the plant will grow down around the basket or in damp boggy soil.
  • Cut Back in winter after flowing to encourage new growth the following year.
  • Semi evergreen, it may loose part or all of its foliage during the winter months new growth appears in the spring.
  • We would recommend a planting basket of at least 11cm across for one plant or, for more impact, plant several of the same variety in a larger basket.
